Selling Out. It is perhaps the most dreaded two words (in any of their forms) combined in all of rock and roll, worse than ‘Bargain Bin.’ Yet, every so often when an artist comes out in favor of a commercial project, their work is underrated, and it’s considered a black mark on their careers. Yet, Pete Townshend has shown us that selling out can be done with some finesse and grace by composing an album called “The Who Sell Out,” and later composed an anti-smoking themed song for the American Lung Association. In the first entry in this series, I present to you the greatest cereal commercial of all time.
