Poignant politics, into girl-group sentimentality, sheer chaos. All of this and more happened, April 12, when the Black Lips took the stage at NYC’s Webster Hall, supported by Brooklyn’s own Vivian Girls and Yellow Dogs.
I spoke with a fan after the show, who said that of all the shows he went to this year, Black Lips was on par with Gwar, and this show slightly edged out Gwar. When I asked him why, he said, quite earnestly, that “the opening acts were better.”
And really, it’s about as good as it got.
