RIP, Dolores Fuller, 1923-2011

The model-turned-actress-turned part-time songwriter, Dolores Fuller, has passed away in Las Vegas, at the age of 88.

Ms. Fuller started her career after meeting director Ed Wood at a casting call to stand in for Dinah Shore. She became famous after landing the lead part in Wood’s film, “Glen or Glenda.” After dating for two years, the couple split in 1955 upon hearing that she did not get the lead role in Mr. Wood’s “Bride of Frankenstein.”

She later went on to write songs for Elvis Presley, including his hit, “Rock a Hula Baby,” as well as Johnny Rivers.
