The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm” in a Major Key.

This is too cool — Major Scaled TV takes songs famously written in the minor key, and digitally alters them to be in the Major Key instead. And that’s everything — the vocals, the guitars, the keyboards. There’s only four songs posted thus far, but here’s one that should be of your interest.

“Riders on the Storm” sounds like a lovely jaunt through a light rain shower with some potentially unsavory characters.

  1. I am glad I have cool friends that share!

  2. This is one of the most hilarious send-ups I’ve ever heard. You wouldn’t think a simple one-note change from minor to major would somehow change the Doors into a jaunty little lounge act, but I’m afraid it is so. Major props to the musicians who meticulously transcribe every single note, including the piano solo.

    • Tell me about, right?!

I’m not sure how much of the music is actually changed manually — I’ve read that it’s done “digitally,” so take that to mean what it may — there’s terrific computer out there who has a great sense of pitch, or they adjust digitally, re-record manually (as would be my hope).
